In addition to featuring last year's earthquake, the characters learn the story of Henry "Box" Brown, a slave born near where the epicenter of the quake was located, and eventually shipped himself to freedom in the North. His story is amazing. I had lots of encouragement to write about the book, and talked with many kids and adults to make sure that what my characters experienced was accurate.
